Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Cohort ("we", "us", "our") at meetcohort.com and app.meetcohort.co. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Cohort. By using the service you confirm that you meet this requirement, that the information you provide is true, and that you are using Cohort for genuine personal connection and not for commercial, fraudulent, or unlawful purposes.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials safe. One person, one account. You must not impersonate anyone, share your account, or create accounts to evade moderation, blocks, suspensions, or bans.
3. Acceptable use
When using Cohort you agree not to: harass, threaten, or abuse other members; share content that is sexually explicit, hateful, illegal, or that violates someone's privacy; solicit money, promote businesses, or send spam; use automated tools to scrape, copy, or interact with the service; attempt to circumvent safety, moderation, or rate-limit features.
4. Content and conduct
You retain ownership of the content you post (prompts, voice notes, photos, messages). By posting it, you grant Cohort a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, moderate, and process it solely to operate the service. We may review, blur, remove, or refuse content that violates these Terms or our community standards.
5. Behavior, suspension, and removal
Cohort uses an internal behavior score and human review to keep the community kind and engaged. We may warn, suspend, or permanently remove accounts that repeatedly ghost matches after the reveal stage, violate these Terms, or are reported by other members. Decisions are at our discretion.
6. Memberships and payments
During beta, Cohort is free for invited members. Paid memberships, when introduced, will be billed through Stripe. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Statutory withdrawal rights apply where required by law.
7. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms. On termination, your profile and most data are deleted or anonymised, except where we are required to retain limited records (e.g. payment history, abuse evidence, legal compliance).
8. Disclaimers
Cohort is provided "as is". We do not guarantee matches, outcomes, or that the service will always be available or error-free. We are not responsible for the conduct of other members, online or offline - please use good judgment when meeting people in person.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cohort's total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
